DIN 71802 angled ball joints consist of a ball socket DIN71805 and a ball shank DIN71803. The angle of rotation for the type with safety catch is 15°, without safety catch is 18°. For assembly the ball is pushed through the circlip which acts as a retainer. Should the retaining force (see pull-off force in the catalog) between ball and socket not be sufficient, this can be increased by adding a safety catch, which can easily be fitted. The hexagon nut to ISO 4032 is part of the angled ball joints. To protect the angled ball point, a dust cap(gaiter) GN710 can be added.

Operating Temperature range
The standard delivery of the angle joints DIN 71802 made of carbon steel is without heat treatment. If higher strength is required, heat treatment angle joints can be ordered on request.
The tensile strength as below after heat treatment
• Ball socket: carbon steel, min. tensile strength Rm = 500 N/mm²
• Ball stud: carbon steel, min. tensile strength Rm = 600 N/mm², ball induction hardened on the surface with a ≥ 52 HRC hardness
The load values requested for the extraction and insertion of the ball stud from/to the ball socket’s housing with the mounted “R” spring, with the joint free from grease, are indicated in the following table:
d1 (ball diameter) | 8 | 10 | 13 | 16 | 19 |
min. extraction force [N] | 30 | 40 | 60 | 80 | 100 |
max insertion force [N] | 200 | 250 | 320 | 350 | 400 |
In the male-female coupling (with grease), the male in a horizontal position falls with a force F applied to the extremity of the male thread (see diagram), according to the table below:
System Size | Designation | max force [N] |

The maximum permissible load for the angular joint is given in the following table; it is also important to tighten the nut as indicated:
